Where The City Swings: Coastal Jazz Hits Downtown Van!

  • May 29, 2025

Hey cool cats and kittens! Get ready, Downtown Vancouver is about to be drenched in the smooth sounds of jazz! From June 20th to July 1st, 2025, the VANCOUVER INTERNATIONAL JAZZ FESTIVAL, presented by the ever-groovy Coastal Jazz, is bringing a whole lotta soul to our streets.

Now, you might picture a smoky room with a lone saxophone wailing a heartfelt tune. And while that's definitely part of the magic, jazz is so much more! Think of it: back in the early 1900s, down in the American South, bluesy feelings got mixed with the lively syncopation of ragtime, and poof! Jazz was born – a delicious musical melting pot! We're talking about giants like Louis “Satchmo” Armstrong, whose voice was pure sunshine, the incomparable Ella Fitzgerald, who could scat like it was her first language, and the eternally hip Miles Davis, always pushing the boundaries.

And guess what? The Vancouver International Jazz Festival is your backstage pass to this incredible sonic adventure! Coastal Jazz curates an amazing lineup, from the cutting-edge vibes of NUBYA GARCIA to the intricate beauty of IMMANUEL WILKINS & LUTOSLAWSKI QUARTET, and the infectious rhythms of RICHARD BONA ASANTE TRIO. This isn't just about listening; it's about feeling the music pulse through you, maybe even inspiring a little spontaneous air-trumpet solo (we won't judge!).

Want to map out your musical journey? Head over to the official Coastal Jazz Calendar to see the full schedule and plan which astounding performances you won't want to miss!  So, you're thinking of diving headfirst into this jazzy jamboree? Smart move! And if you need a comfy spot to land after a day of getting your groove on, well, you know where to find us!

Ready to book a room that's as smooth as a Chet Baker solo? Swing on over to GRAND PARK HOTEL & SUITES DOWNTOWN VANCOUVER and let's make some beautiful memories this June!

Don't be late to the beat!
